Block’s Brewery

August 9, 2009

52.   Try 15 new restaurants (5/15) (more info)

Shane, Alex and I drove up to the Decatur Celebration to support Jeremie’s band. The Decatur celebration is supposed to be the largest free street festival in Illinois. It was pretty huge, so that may be true. We decided to eat at a bar/grill across the street instead of spending twice the money to eat something on a stick. We went to Block’s Brewery. We were seating really quickly and were impressed with the decor and atmosphere. However, the food took forever to get to us specially since they weren’t busy at all. The food was pretty good. There were a lot of posters advertising entertainment and their website has even more bands/DJs listed. Seems like it might be a fun place on a Friday or Saturday. Overall, maybe once Shane goes back to work in Decatur we’ll go again, but otherwise we’re not making a trip up just to eat there.

Sometimes I think a nearly empty restaurant is just as bad when it comes to getting food/service as one that is extremely busy.

That’s often true. I waitressed one summer in college and although I do tip more for good service, I’m also more aware of things they should be doing.
