The Wrath of Khan

May 29, 2009

30.   Watch 101 new movies (4/101) (more info)

Tonight Alex and I watched the second Star Trek movie, The Wrath of Khan. We had a few laughs at the attire and effects, but were greatly surprised to see how closely the new Star Trek movie stuck to the characters. The movie is based around a conflict between Khan and Captain Kirk. Kahn is a product of genetic engineering in 1996 and was stranded on a desert planet by Kirk for more than 15 years. They now have to stop him from getting Genesis, a device able to create life out of nothing. I’m sure it was well received in 1982, but it was hard for us to get past the poor special effects (and cute younger cast of the new movie). We were very surprised to see Kristie Alley as a main cast member! All and all, I’m glad we watched it and I’ll probably watch the next movie in the series.

: EDIT : 06.09.09 :

37.   Watch 5 movies suggested by friends or family (1/5) (more info)

I realized that this also counts toward #37 since Alex brought this over to watch :)

That’s so funny – I just watched this film not long ago as part of my 101 project (it falls under the “watch 5 movies that my husband likes that I’m not interested in” goal). I really enjoyed it, though! (surprisingly) :)

I was surprised to have liked it as much as I did too. What’s funny is my husband HATES those kinds of movies and refused to watch it with us lol. If you haven’t seen the new Star Trek yet you should. I highly recommend it!

My husband is… a Trekkie (auuughh! lol). So, yes, I saw the new Star Trek and LOVED IT!! (And not just b/c of Chris Pine, although he helped. lol)

I went to University of Iowa which is about 15 minutes from Riverside, IA (the future birthplace of James T Kirk). I’ve been trying to get my husband to go to a Trekkie convention at the casino there (I’ve even offered to visit his parents while we’re in Iowa!), but he still won’t go lol.
