Shane’s Netflix pick was Casino Royale (2006), a James Bond movie. I haven’t seen many of the Bond movies so I can’t compare this to the others, however, I can’t say I liked it. Shane seemed to enjoy it so perhaps it’s a boy thing.
In this movie Bond must enter a high stakes, high dollar poker tournament to bring down a bad banker. It was pretty predicatble and cheesy, but perhaps that’s the norm. The acting was pretty good. Bond was fun to look at. And the effects and stunts were quite impressive. So I’m not going to say don’t watch this, because I think it was mearly a matter of preferences. However, I won’t be watching it again.

Here’s my review of Casino Royale: Daniel Craig in a speedo *drool*.
No, but seriously, I grew up to the Pierce Brosnan style of Bond, and he was cool and classy, but not so much the powerhouse that Craig portrays. Daniel Craig plays Bond as an even more macho spy (what with the rooftop chases and grizzly bathroom executions) but he seems to be a little more in touch with his romantic side. I don’t think I’ve known James to focus on just one woman as much as the one in this movie (and in the sequel, Quantum of Solace).
However, James Bond is, and always shall be, a guy flick. You can’t expect any less male chauvinism or explosions in the inevitable future installments :-).
